This year, for the third time, the Natural Sümeg wine trade event will bring the natural wine makers and wine experts of historical Hungary to Sümeg. Held on 28 and 29 April in the Bishop's Palace in Sümeg, the professional training and wine show attracts a significant number of domestic and foreign guests to Sümeg every year. We asked Miklós Nagy, master hunter of the Marcal Valley Hunting Association, about the cooperation.
What is worth knowing about the hunting industry?
The Hunting Association is located in the triple border area of Veszprém-, Vas-, Zala-county, in the Veszprém-county, including the boundaries of the villages of Dabronc, Zalaerdőd, Hetyefő and Megyer. The eastern border is the Marcal River. Almost half of the area is a coherent forest block, consisting mainly of mixed woodland (oaks, cherry trees), with a small number of different pine species, while the other half of the hunting area consists of intensively cultivated agricultural parcels. Favourable living conditions are also found for big game species such as roe deer, fallow deer, wild boar and roe deer, and limited numbers of small game species such as pheasants, hares, mallards and occasional winter flocks of wild geese. Hunting guests, both national and foreign, are welcome all year round, as are those with the necessary equipment and personnel.
What is the idea that connects the hunting association with Nature Sümeg?
Hunting and game gastronomy are also linked to wine, and pairing different game dishes with a matching wine gives the consumer a richer taste experience. The other, environmental farming, the management of nature's resources, also connects us, since we also manage the products of nature, natura, and we protect and conserve them so that they can serve future generations.
What do you think about Natural Sümeg?
We were present at the previous two events, and as wine lovers who follow the wine culture, we are happy to see such a prestigious event come to the city, and we hope that it will remain a recurring, high quality feature of the city's life. I wish the organisers all the strength and perseverance they need to organise further events.
Thank you for the interview!
